  • i'm not xanga-lazy, really.

my dog ate my posts. yeah, that's it.

    ok,
maybe not. perhaps i'll write a story or something to make up for it.
someone give me a phrase, and i'll write a story on it. i wrote one for
    someone else,
based off of "limes are the impetus for armageddon. that reminds me, i
need to find that again... it's around here somewhere, i'm sure. what
else could possibly keep me away, you ask?

i'm busy working on a redesign for the guys in duty free,
and seeing them play. go check out the site now, and then i'll post an
update once it's done. go over there and check it out. i hope you like
    it...

to those of you who posted about the elements, thank you. i'm still trying to figure it out for myself, and that helped a lot.

that's all i've got for right now. i have to go eat something before i pass out or get all irritable or something.

  • how would you put the four elements together...?

    you know them, right?

    earth,
air (or wind?), fire, water. simple enough, right? well, i'm trying to
figure out how i would want to put them together for something i'm
working on... so far, i'm thinking of it in a circle, going from earth
to water to air to fire (e>w>a>f>). any other ideas? i'm
thinking of it that way from the four stages of matter (there are more,
but let's keep it simple), but i don't know if fire works into earth in
the best way. then again, maybe i'm overthinking again.

oh yeah, and happy labor day. heh.

  • danny frickin' dunn.

    THAT'S who it was!

    so officeconfidential
hooked me up and unlocked some old-school memories when i got the
lowdown on danny dunn. man, those were great books, and i didn't
realize there were so many in the series! i feel a lot better knowing
who it was. in return, OC got a nice fresh gmail account, which brings
me to popstar_dave (and sean too)...

    yeah,
i think a lot of people are giving out invites, and for some reason,
there are people selling them on ebay still. i don't see how selling
them for a penny gets you anything more than giving them away for free
(or close to it), but whatever gets your motor runnin'... so does
anyone want one? maybe i'll have a couple of pieces of trivia, and
whoever buzzes in first gets one. but... how to make it fair? post one
now, and say i'm posting another at a certain time? yeah, i'll post a
time after the first one is answered.

what year was the great molasses flood, and how many people did it kill?

  • i need your help.

    yes, you too.

    i'm looking for a
series of books from a loooong time ago, back when i was in elementary
school. i can't remember the name of them (hence needing help), and i
don't remember much for the details, besides being glued to them when
we went to the library. what i do remember:

    it was an
adventure-like idea, and there was a kid who was the main character
(no, not encyclopedia brown). in one of the books, they went to visit
his friend who was a professor... he had invented a shrinking ray, and
of course it shrunk the group of them (this is waaaay before "honey, i
shrunk the kids"). the kid ended up falling really far (like off of a
table) and not being hurt, and the professor explained that it's
because they were so small, gravity affected them differently. he also
rode on a dragonfly or a butterfly, and was "steering" it by making a
shadow over the opposite eye (making it think there was something to
that side)... that's all i really remember about that one.

    there
was another one where someone (i'm guessing the same professor)
invented a fly- or dragonfly-robot that was remote controlled by a
glove, and the user could "feel" what it felt, and see what it saw...
there was a part where something lit on fire, and the kid almost got
burned by the glove because he lost control of it.

    yeah, i know
it's not a lot to go on, but i want to find them, and i'll put more up
as i remember. what kind of incentive, you ask...? well, i was thinking
that i'll give an invite to gmail, if you'd like it... or something else if you already have one (or don't want one). just help me find those books! thanks.

  • i didn't fall off the earth, or anywhere else for that matter.

i'm just trying to re-root my life, and i haven't figured out where.

it's not easy, but it'll happen in time.

there are worse things that could be happening, and i'm glad this isn't one of them.

nothing is permanent, at least in what we're talking about...

  • my. brain. hurts.

    it doesn't stop there though.

ouch. my brain hurts today, and i think the rest of my body is with it. it's not so much like an agonizing thing, or a throbbing dull pain, but it's more like hurt-by-annoyance. i think i'm a little dehydrated (maybe a lot), and i have a headache, sensitivity to sound, and i just feel dulled down. i'm gonna go drink a bunch of water and i'll let you know what happens.

  • does anyone have a hello account?

    anyone at all...?

    just
wondering, 'cause i do, and it uses picasa, and it's a great way
to share pictures. well, i like it so far anyway. it's not polished,
but it works and it's pretty easy. we'll see how it moves along, but
for now it's good for sharing a couple of pictures without tying up
    your email.

[ update: does anyone *know* what hello is? ]

  • oh, yeah, there's that...

    i said i was going to write, didn't i?

    so
it's been... wow, almost too damn long since i've written here. sorry
folks. i've been busy uprooting my life and causing utter chaos in it,
and i'm trying to figure out how it's going to settle. i can't get into
the details, but it hasn't been a walk in the park.

    i've been
trying to ride more (mountain biking, for anyone who wasn't sure), and
it's making a difference. i don't feel as stressed, i'm not as angry
when i'm stuck in traffic, and bonus - losing a couple of lbs.

sorry, but that's all i have for right now. more later, don't you worry, and yes, age... more than one update per week. hopefully many more.

  • please stay tuned...

an update is on the way (i think)

a lot of things changing very quickly, and it's a busy week for me. be back in a few... or maybe several. we'll have to see.

  • wisdom (teeth and dispensed)

that's about as clever as... uh, something clever.

so the thing with the wisdom teeth went really well. i'm not in any pain, and haven't really been since... well, ever. the meds i was on took care of that through monday, and i haven't taken any since.

it's another one of those times... i have an idea, and i'd like to know who wants to help, or who would be interested in helping build it up. i don't even know if it's a good idea or not, so please bear with me. for starters, has anyone ever taken a class where you had to write / draw / sketch / whatever for a given amount of time, without stopping? this is along that idea, and involves a LOT of writing.

let's say you've written for two minutes straight before... how about for five? maybe ten? what i want to do is start building it up into a marathon... write for 26.2 minutes straight, no stopping. for those of you who have done it (like nam and others), it maybe feels a little like the one-month-novel idea, but it's different. who knows? it might even help people get ready for it.

    anyone with me?
