  • Who (or what) are you planning to be for Halloween?

Since I’ve been letting my beard go wild, I was thinking of going as Yukon Cornelius.

I’ll put a picture up if I do.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

  • What is your favorite thing about the fall season?

Apple picking, and eating the delicious baked goods (and the apples themselves) from said apple picking.

A close second is the cooler weather and better sleeping weather.

  • the friday drive

    The short: my commute sucks.

It’s not the worst out there, but it’s not good. I drive about 46 miles each way, and the first third of it is no more than 40mph. Sometimes it takes me 55 minutes (with little to no traffic), but the past couple of weeks it’s been closer to 1:45.

The only saving grace has been Fridays. Most Friday commutes are nice and easy, relatively few cars on the road (compared to a “normal” morning), and I get to work closer to my planned time. This Friday was no exception, and even though I left a little later than I wanted, I was only about 10 minutes late.

Anyone with a worse commute? I know you’re out there. I also know there are some people that have a 30 foot commute into their home office. To those people, I am jealous.

  • urgh.

Confession time: I’ve been seeing other sites.

I was thinking about this site this morning, and realized how much xanga has done for me. I started out with a Geocities site back in 1997, then came to xanga in July of 2001 (I won’t mention the B-name). This site has been a place for me to get to know a lot of people, and I’ve seen a lot of changes in the past 7 years, most for the better. I’ve even gotten to talk to some of the bigger players, like Dan and John (of the xangods). There have been chats with seanmeister, NFP, namaste, billsquared, and numerous others.

This is a great place to write, and easy to come back to… I’ll try to get on here more and post, but I can’t promise anything. Thank you xanga and the xangods, for this community and a stepping stone into the big, big world of the Internet.

  • happy st. patrick’s day, 2008

Yeah, time for green beer and corned beef and cabbage and dyeing the toilet green and telling your 6-year-old daughter that it was a leprechaun that did it. :)

Oh, and sorry it’s been a while (John already knew that though). I’ve been busy with several things, like my site and a couple of other places. I still love Xanga though, and always come back.

  • What is a funny caption you would put on your t-shirt?

John Hiler can read your mind.

[ To claify, I was just talking to Sean last night and mentioned that I was picturing everything as t-shirt captions... ]

As Sean said, “You think you love Xanga?”

This girl has you beat, probably by a lot.

  • hey, look over there!

So to follow up from my last post, I wrote something very similar on my main site at dropcase.com. I downloaded my archive from here a few weeks ago, and started reading (I need to go back and read more). It’s funny to think that I was wondering if I would have readers at all…

  • one more place to update

It seems like I have once more place to update on a regular basis… I started on Geocities back about 11 years ago, then moved to Xanga in 2001, then added several other sites (including my “main” site at dropcase.com in 2003). Along the way from there, I’ve added too-many-to-count sites that want me to update them. This has been the only place I’ve consistently come back to so I can update it… Even if it’s a while in-between, I’m a Xangan for life.

I’ve mostly narrowed it down to here, dropcase.com, Twitter, and maybe a couple of things here and there. If I can keep the site list small, maybe I can keep up with posting to all of it.

Now, if I could find a way to post a little something to all of them from one easy-to-use interface, I’d be a more regular poster (no fiber jokes please). Heh. Maybe that’ll be my next big thing: writing the universal post-o-matic application. Of course, knowing myself for as long as I have… I’m gonna say that nobody should wait for that.

Thanks to the Xangods for giving me a solid place to put some virtual roots.

  • happy 2008… what?

Yes, I’m such a procrastinator that I waited until the 4th to wish all of Xanga a Happy New Year. So much for resolutions.

2007 was a good year for me, and I hope the same was true for you. We had a great party for the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008… and actually “finishing” it this weekend. For some reason we still have a lot of alcohol left over, even though our recycling bins were full of wine bottles and beer cans. Anyone do anything exciting over the holidays?
