  • stupid drivers

    ...it's a long list, I understand.

I have a long drive to work. Not the longest or worst, but it's still long. it's about 47 miles each way, and lately (with traffic), about 90 minutes each way. If there's no traffic, I can make it in about 55 minutes, but that rarely happens. The only upside to this is that I've had a lot of time to listen to podcasts and get caught up on some books I've wanted to read (and some I've read before, but wanted to hear).

One of the big downsides is the stupid drivers. It's one thing to make a little mistake, like fading to the side of your lane (but not cross over), and correct it quickly. It's completely another to swing into the lane next to you without warning and almost hit the person who you didn't see... since you were too busy on the phone to look out the side.

It's unfortunate that there's nothing that can be done, no traffic vigilante posse that tags drivers who are piss-poor. I think Gallagher (the comedian, in case you're not sure) suggested everyone having "stick 'em dart guns" (aka suction-cup darts). Then the cops would pull over the vehicle with a half-dozen on it and give them a ticket.

Would people drive better if they knew that everyone was actually paying attention?

    ...or...

Would it cause more problems by inciting road-rage in people who felt wrongly "stuck" by others?
